  1. Most farmers run cows (actual cows, not bulls or steers that need to gain weight) on the paddocks over winter, and they clean up the stems and seed heads that are left over.

    But, you know, having lots of varieties of stock with different grazing habits is not exactly a Brave New Revelation In Pasture Management…

    I would also suggest to the boffins that they measure weight gain on the fussy vs not-fussy sheep, otherwise they might shoot themselves in the foot.

      1. One would hope so. Otherwise they’d need to employ someone as an overpaid consultant on commercial considerations when experimenting with sheep.

        Dunno who might be up for THAT job..
